Oceanic Heat and Carbon Variability

The ocean is the largest reservior of anthropogenic heat and carbon in the climate system. Understanding the natural variability of oceanic heat and carbon is critical to our interpertation of recent trends. One of my main research goals is to understand this natural variability using a coupled General Circulation Model

Southern Hemisphere Extratropical Variability

Using CMIP5 climate model simulations, I showed that recent trends in the Southern Hemisphere westerly jet are not statistically significant, and highlghted some potential problems with underlying metric assumptions.
